FAAは現在、3つの章で構成されている。FAAは、著しく短く、比較的下手に起草された。
(a) “domestic” FAA, 9 U.S.C. §§1-16
州際取引及び外国貿易を含む仲裁合意・裁定に適用される。
(b) the New York Convention's implementing legislation, 9 U.S.C. §§201-210
ニューヨーク条約の範囲内の裁定・合意にのみ適用される。
(c) the Inter-American Arbitration Convention's implementing legislation, 9 U.S.C. §§301-07
米州条約に基づく裁定にのみ適用される。
